I love t-shirts. I have a fairly big collection of them. By this, I mean I probably own around 40 or so of them and add to the collection regularly. I know I’m not alone in my love of them either. My favourites are the band and gig t-shirts I’ve collected over the years. I don’t know if some of these are rare and frankly, don’t really care one way or the other. These are clothing and are meant to be worn, not doted over. (One of my current favourites is an Ecko brand t-shirt featuring a tribute to Jason “Jam Master Jay’ Mizell of Run DMC).
Over the Christmas period, I swapped a t-shirt with one of our lovely JoeUsers, Tova. I sent her a Maroubra Underground t-shirt (I live in a Sydney suburb called Maroubra) and she sent me an awesome Beaver Creek t-shirt. And this has spawned an idea.
I’d like to set up a t-shirt swapping register. The idea would be people register their name, where they’re from and a contact email address. Then others, once they’re registered, can peruse this list, contact one or as many of the names as they’d like and swap a t-shirt (or t-shirts, as the case may be). The idea would be to exchange a t-shirt one might otherwise never be able to find.
Yes, there are plenty of online t-shirt sellers but this register will not be trying to sell anyone anything. This is completely an honour system and will work only if those who register do the right thing. Anyone found not doing it will earn the ire of t-shirt lovers around the world and be stricken from the register.
Why am I telling you here? Because I’d like your opinion, my JoeUser friends and acquaintances. What do you think of the idea? Do you see any immediate problems? Do you see any better ways of doing this? Is there already something out there like this? Do you have any advice, options or blank cheques you’d like to provide?
