I had an idea, as a concerned citizen of the world, to write an open letter to America, asking all eligible to vote in the upcoming Presidential elections. I spent some time formulating the content to make sure I wasn't insulting the American people's intelligence. I wanted the content to be completely unbiased as well. Simply, I just wanted Americans to be aware of just how much emphasis the rest of the world places on the Presidential elections. Then something made me change my mind...
Thanks for all the responses, folks. I really appreciate that there are others 'out there' who think the way I do. My wife and I had been saying jokingly prior to the election that New Zealand and Canada were looking better every day. But we don't want to run away. We love our country, even if we don't like our government. The fact remains we need to be here to help keep balance. There are too many people willing to 'go along' with whatever is happening so long as their lifestyle is not...
Well, I'm guessing if you are reading this, it may well be because of the title. I'm not pig-ignorant and I certainly wouldn't be proud of it if I were. But then again, if I were pig-ignorant, maybe I would be proud because I wouldn't know. Have I lost you yet? The thing is, I am Australian. In fact, I'm a proud Australian. I do my best to support Australian business, particularly the smaller, local businesses in the area I live. I feel a surge of pride whenever I hear of a fellow ...

I'm in love again. I can't tell you how many times I've fallen like this but it is at least in the hundreds. Most of the time, this is a fairly one-sided affair. Before any of you reading this start tutting and shaking your heads, I must confess this love is directed towards bands and/or musicians. This habit of falling in love with the virtually-unattainable began when I was about 7 or 8 and first started wanting to play guitar. I fell for Elvis Presley big time. But very soon after, I...
For those of you who don't know, the title above is from the legendary Easybeats song, Friday On My Mind. Considering I keep thinking today is Tuesday (due to a long weekend), it looks as though the idea of Wednesday is either going to completely bypass this week or I'm going to confuse myself even further tomorrow by thinking Thursday is Wednesday. Have I confused anyone yet because I think I've just confused myself? Here's another little piece of information you don't know about me. I...
Today is Friday, its raining pretty hard, though probably not over the catchment areas. It is also the start of a three day weekend. I'm feeling like I should probably be doing something productive but I think the rain has me feeling like I don't want to do anything but curl up with a hot beverage in front of a good movie or even better, curl up in bed with my wife. I know I'm going to have plenty of opportunities to do this over the weekend, with wet weather predicted for most of it. I j...
I went out to see a friend's band play last night at an open-mic night at the Coogee Bay Hotel. I've played there quite a few times but I've never gone as an audience member. Kind of different but good. It made a change, as my friend Peter has been very supportive of me in the past so it was excellent to return the favour. Pete's new act still needs a fair bit of work but is developing well. I also caught up with Pete's brother, Patrick, whom I haven't seen for many years. He's marrie...
Monday, Monday, bah, dah, bah, dah, dah, dah Oh yeah, Mondays. And today I have an extra bad case of the Mondayitis despite having a great weekend. I actually got some sun on my skin, maybe even a little too much on my forehead. My wife was giggling at me last night because I had lines across my face from wearing my sunglasses. I got some sun because we took a nice walk from our house around the coastline to Waverley Cemetary, which is one of the oldest in Sydney. It is filled with some won...
Ah, the fine art of blogging. I'm in a position where I have a number of journals published on another site that asks anyone who might happen on it to join before they can view or post a comment. So I'm moving to this one where entry and viewing is easier. I made a decision when I first started my blog to use it as a release of a sort and maybe as a tool to discuss different aspects of human behaviour from a personal perspective. I welcome any comments or advice. If you need to say somet...
