Okay, so its not all of us... In fact, it's just me

It is my time now. I’m prepping all the little jobs at work. I’m talking to my boss about finishing things off and tidying up. I’m filing and dusting and clearing away paperwork that has long been abandoned while I wait for more information. And the reason for all this activity: 3 weeks holiday. You read it right the first time. 3 whole weeks of nothing to do but…

I wish I could I had nothing to do but sit around and be contemplative. But the truth is we’ll be hitting the road and doing a little bit of travelling, first to see some friends and relatives then to a lovely place on the central coast of New South Wales called Forster (but pronounced Foster, as in the beer that no Australian in his right mind drinks). I plan on doing a little bit of fishing, a little lying around in the sun, a little eating… In fact, I plan on doing as little as possible for a whole week. My lovely wife wants to take some board games, a couple of books, some music and very little else. School holidays are finished and the place will be quiet, something we’re looking forward to given we live in a very noisy city.

Suffice to say, I won’t be around a computer so I won’t be blogging for a few weeks. To all my JU friends, I just want to say thanks so much for all your support recently with regards to my band and the music we’re making. I am hoping to have the songs mastered in the next few weeks and I will be sending you copies of the CD once it is available.

I will be back, I promise… Just think of me suffering on the beach above. Don’t worry yourselves, I won’t be suffering too much

I'm trying to get a picture up of the place we're going but I'm failing miserably... I will keep trying, though.

have a good time

What are you talking about? Foster's is Australian for beer. I know, I saw the commercials. Do you not eat at Outback Steakhouse either? How about throwing shrimp on the barbie? Do you do that, mate? All of my Australian stereotypes are being shattered. The next thing I know is you'll be telling me that you aren't crocodile dundee.

Have a great trip! Say hi to all the koalas and kangaroos and crocodiles for me. Kookaburra sittin' in the old gum tree. Waltzing Matilda, waltzing matilda. Are those songs on your CD?

BTW, this is all said while laughing in a sarcastic tone. I don't want you to think that I'm really this obnoxious even though I am. ha ha.

Trudy: thanks so much. I intend having a great time.

Locamama: yep, hate to shatter stereotypes and all, but not one of them is applicable to any Australian I know. And I'm really sorry to disappoint you but I've never thrown a 'shrimp' on a barbie (we don't call them shrimp here, we call them prawns); I've never drunk a Fosters, I don't know if there is any place in Australia called the Outback Steakhouse and I'm certainly not Crocidile Dundee. Sorry about that... Well, actually, I'm not sorry at all. I can't think of anything worse than having people around the world lump all Australians into that basket. Paul Hogan and Steve Irwin are far from 'typical' Australian men.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for this...

Thanks heaps Peter. I'm sure we will. I will certainly be letting you all know how it all went when I'm back.

On another note: I've been trying to use Imageshack to put up a picture but for some reason it is not working. Maybe I'm being a bit thick but I simply repeated the process as I did for your blog but it is not working. All I end up seeing is the code as opposed to the picture AND the code. Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?

Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?

First off, I know that Imageshack is having database issues right now. They say all images are there, just out of order, etc. Might have something to do with it.

Second, if the image is smaller than 200x200 pixels it won't generate a thumbnail. Either way, just paste the code and it should work. For JoeUser the best to use is the code labeled "Sites" rather than "Forums". Just plays better with the way things are done here. Either the Thumbnail or Embeddable work fine. Just copy everything in the Sites box and paste it. No need to use the Image button above. Hope that works for you.
