A while ago, Kelly had a blog where she put up a picture and asked the rest of us to see what sort of story we could come up with based on it. The exercise was really good, with some really inventive responses. Check out Kelly's blog here: Link

I’d like to take this idea one step further. I’d like to form a JU Writers Club. The idea would be each member of the club suggests or provides a topic, scene or picture and we all write something based the suggestion.

We can then compare notes, offer advice and generally trade off ideas on how to write better. This won’t be a competition, with prizes for the best nor will there be any time limits. I think it could be a lot of fun and provide some of us with inspiration and impetus to continue writing.

Who knows, it might even lead to those involved actually having some fun.

Question of the Day,

Excellent and welcome.

SilentPoet,

Welcome to you too.

Serenity,

I had thought about creating another, yes, but wanted to gauge the reaction to this idea. I'm very pleased with the feedback, so I think I will go ahead and create the group. I will let you all know once its done what it is called.

Thanks to everyone so far for responding. This IS going to be fun

Okay, I just tried to create a blog group and was told I didn't have administration priveleges to create it! What is going on? I shouldn't need admin. rights to to this, should I?

on Nov 05, 2006

I'd like to join too, what a great idea.

I didn't think you needed any special privledges to create an account. If you are still having trouble on Monday send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can find out what the problem is; kristin AT stardock DOT com.

Cordelia,

Welcome aboard.

Neither did I. Each time I've tried I've had a message that says either there is work going on the database at the moment and I should try later or that I don't have admin. priveleges to create a blog group.

If you are still having trouble on Monday send me an e-mail

Well, it is Monday in Australia already, but I take your point I will keep trying and if I have any success I will let you know. Otherwise you will be hearing from me. Thanks so much for the offer of assistance. It is much appreciated.

Question!

(I'm a dummy! But then we all already knew that...)

How is this blog group gonna/supposed to work?
on Nov 05, 2006
Shovel,

Question

As far as I understand, it is a secondary group attached to my name (I think). If anyone else out there knows for sure, could you please let the pair of us know

Dude...I think that sounds like so much fun. What a great idea!

Unfortunately...I can't seem to get an answer from Admin whether or not they're willing to accept my apology and let me blog on...but I'll be watching to see if your idea takes off nonetheless. Good luck!

WyoMoo,

If you do get back on, you're more than welcome to join in. Here's hoping they accept your apology.

That is correct.  I joined Dharma's Book club, but have not posted much to it.

Yeah, me too, am a part of Dharma's book club but haven't contributed since my Bond reading! I haven't had a chance to read anything else - books that is, which sucks!

Joe, when Mark creates it, you just join the blog group by clicking on it, the link.

but then what? Is that where your submissions are posted? Or is that where Mark throws the idea into the ring? What do you do after you join the blog group?

I am not sure how the group is grouped, but when you go to create a new article, you will be given a choice.  post on Shovelheat or Writers club.  You still get the points, and it still shows up in your articles, but I guess you can then view articles in that group like in the forum view.  The latter part I am not totally clear on, but Zoomba would know.
