A while ago, Kelly had a blog where she put up a picture and asked the rest of us to see what sort of story we could come up with based on it. The exercise was really good, with some really inventive responses. Check out Kelly's blog here: Link

I’d like to take this idea one step further. I’d like to form a JU Writers Club. The idea would be each member of the club suggests or provides a topic, scene or picture and we all write something based the suggestion.

We can then compare notes, offer advice and generally trade off ideas on how to write better. This won’t be a competition, with prizes for the best nor will there be any time limits. I think it could be a lot of fun and provide some of us with inspiration and impetus to continue writing.

Who knows, it might even lead to those involved actually having some fun.

Whip, Buddha, Tova, Doc and Nicky; welcome to you all. This club is looking to be really healthy.

I will try to create the blog group again today. If it doesn't work, I will be contacting Cordelia to see if she can figure out what is going on.

I'm in, I'm in!

As a sidenote, I've got a surrealist story I'm working on (very T.S. Elliot) that's written all in small, capsulated chunks - text messages, to be honest. I should hopefully be able to finish it soon and get it up!

My writing career was cut short. When I wrote a story about WWII (the aftermath) and made the statement "The Japanese colonel was surveying his command before the surrender, with his staff tagging a long behind him."

My mother went into hysterics about tagging his long behind.

SanCho,

Glad to have you on board, mate. I was wondering when you'd catch up.

@ Doc... If you write deliberately like this now, at least we'd have a good laugh.

Ok, I will try.  At least my mother wont be the only one that laughs!  maybe I should do comedy.  I am not going to compete with the rest of you in fiction! (or non in some cases).

BTW:  I was 14 when I wrote that.  It did make the school rag.  plecch!

Doc,

Comedy is good. We could always do with more laughter.

It did make the school rag

Ooo, a published author. We're not worthy

I got an 100 and a 99 from a teacher that only liked girl writers... so I must've done something really write.

Or she thought I was effeminate.

I prefer to think it was the first one, especially because it lends itself better to wordplay.

I could possibly be in, if I can find time to be on JoeUser.

Jythier,

You'd be welcome, regardless. I'm just about to post the first of the suggestions...
