Take a number and wait until you're called.

I’ve been working very slowly on a few stories just recently but I keep having all these ideas. With a lot of these ideas, I get the first few paragraphs written then I have to go do something else. The end result is a bunch of ideas barely started and me rapidly losing interest in them as the initial burst of creativity associated with the story is long gone.

I said to Nicky recently what this essentially means is when I have writer’s block, I have a bunch of ideas I can use to help inspire me. But the truth is a lot of these ideas sit wasted, some never written beyond the first dot-point stage (I use this technique a lot to put down my ideas quickly). At some point, I go back through these, read them, assess whether they’re worth keeping and delete most of them. I sometimes wonder whether I’d be better off handing these ideas on for someone else to be inspired by them as well. And then I think no one would really be interested in taking on something from my overactive, often-weird imagination.

Anyway, the reason for the above meandering is so I could lead to asking someone else to provide the next piece of inspiration. I believe this time around it should come from one of the ladies in the group. So InBloom, Tova, Serenity, Kelly, Whip or anyone else; if you have any ideas, quotes, pictures or whatever, put them up so those of us (meaning me) who are running a bit short at the moment have something to inspire us.

I've got one, but I don't know how well it will go over.

When I read people here on JU, I get a vision of them in my head.  Maybe what they look like, where they live, how they act, etc.

I was thinking maybe taking one or more "characters" here at JU and writing a short story about a typical day for them, or something totally off the wall and creative...wherever the keyboard travels.

Of course it would be more fun NOT identifying the person(s) and letting the reader guess....but identification is ok too.

What do you think?

And remember its FICTION so we can make someone as wild as our imagination....heh.

I agree! 100%! Let one of the ladies choose!

(Dear God! I'd give my left nut if DylanZimmerman would participate...)

Tova,

I like the idea. The tough part is actually choosing the person to write about. Because it is fiction, it should make for some interesting reading.

Shovel,

You might want to give your left nut, but who is going to take it? (I am joking, of course).

I suggested it because I am already writing a little piece, inspired by some back and forth here on JU, that includes at least 15 "caricatures" of people here on JU. Some of the resemblances are obvious, and some are nothing like the JU persona. But since I really don't "know" most Juers, it is all imagination.

That's what makes it so fun....a word, or a thought from a fellow JUer can inspire a whole train of thought about them...or a whole train of thought that really has NOTHING to do with them.

That sounds interesting Tonya. When you're ready post it and I'll see what I can add to it, if anything.

It would make a swell lucky charm -you know- like a rabbit foot or somethin.' I mean, the STORIES it could tell...

Ok Forever, I will probably post the first chapter...it is growing so fast heh, tomorrow.

the STORIES it could tell...

Oh, I'm sure there are many stories it could tell. As for being a lucky charm, I don't know. A shrivelled, dried out nut on a chain doesn't sound terrifically lucky to me

a word, or a thought from a fellow JUer can inspire a whole train of thought

This makes the challenge worthy, in my opinion. I've been so inspired by a few here, they have no idea. To actually write about them is going to be a lot of fun.

Hmm...that sounds juicy!  Looking forward to it.
