Poem/song lyric

I walk around
No shoes, no shirt
Mind racing hard
Trying to stay alert
Only one way
To stop feeling down
I walk around

I walk around
Skinny chest stuck out
Limping on soles
Shod only in doubt
Scared to breathe
Or make a sound
I walk around

I walk around
Eyes to the sky
Cracked earth closing up
No longer dry
Tears from my past
Are soaking the ground
So I walk around

I walk around

Exactly, Maso.

Exactly.

Shovel,

I knew you'd get it, mate. It was written with you in mind.

So musical, so true. My humble tribute to you and Moore. Loving 'from hell'.

You walk around
Your steps behind
And wildly
In my mind
Closed eyes see
The moonlit hound
You walk around

Don,

My humble tribute to you and Moore.

I'm touched, mate, thanks very much. I'm sort of thinking the tune would be a dirty blues tune, recorded in an abandoned church late at night on a single cartoid microphone, with the 'moonlit hound' growling at the door.

Moore is brilliant, isn't he?

I hear the pounding base line. The whining twang of the lead. Open the church door. The hound is you, howling, howling at the moon.

The growl I had pictured was a Tom Waits, whiskey scarred throaty growl. The only growl I'm capable of doesn't come anywhere near the intensity of Mr. Waits. But I'd sure give it go.

Heh, heh...kinda sounds like you're going on a walkabout, mate.

Zoo,

kinda sounds like you're going on a walkabout,

Yeah, I guess it does. I really do like walking. I like what it does for my state of mind. I like seeing things I'd normally miss driving. I like the energy I feel after.

I like walking around (although I have to say I don't do it shoeless or shirtless).

Dy -

Hadn't seen this until your comment on my piece about walking. Seems like we're both walking down this life.

Brief, but packed. Good work.

I like that! Sometimes it helps to do this at the mall window shopping!

Buddah,

Thanks, mate. BTW I got your book today. I started reading it on the bus on the way to work and got so engrossed I nearly missed my stop. Will get back to you on it.

Serenity,

I prefer to do my walking under the sky, with trees and nature around me. Hey, but whatever works for you, right?

Great lyrics. Reading it I think it would make a good blues song. How 'bout Tom Waits singing and Jonny Lang playing? or just have Buddy Guy do both?

Chris,

As I said earlier,

The growl I had pictured was a Tom Waits, whiskey scarred throaty growl

Great ears think alike, I guess I'm actually thinking I might have a go at writing something for it. Could be fun...
