Take a number and wait until you're called.

According to some
I’ve never had much form
Always been considered a middle runner
But you know what they say
When your stand out in the pack
You’re really noticed

It took me a long while to discover
What I’m good at doing
So many years slipped by
While I pottered around trying to figure it out
Then a friend said it was too late
To start a new career at something
I had never done before

So how young or old do you have to be
To pursue dreams of creativity
Fortunately I am hard of hearing
Stubborn and hard of head
I didn’t really take in what my friend said
I kind of feel sorry for him
To have given up so much
To become so cynical so young

I’ve always been led by my heart
And so far it hasn’t steered me wrong

How does it go?  "You march to the beat of your own drum"?   a good thing too

The poem is good, but the title is brilliant!

My head sometimes lies to me . My heart never does. My mind waits for torpedos. My heart says, damn it, full steam ahead! Great sentiment in this, Maso!

Trudy,

You march to the beat of your own drum

It is funny you say this as it is something my Dad always said about me. I believe if we don't move to our own rhythm then we're missing something, you know? Glad you enjoyed the poem.

Doc,

the title is brilliant

Thanks mate. I have to admit I was quite pleased with it too.

Don,

Great sentiment in this

Thanks mate. Sometimes it feels like our heads and hearts are in competition with each other. Logic might provide clarity but emotions provide the truth, as far as I'm concerned.

Depending on what it is I try to keep a balance but i do tend to be more ruled by my heart. The danger, to me, is when people are too much one way. It leads to people like your friend in the poem.

May your heart keep steering you right, mate.

I liked this, more approachable writing.

Thanks, Moskowitz

Chris,

You're dead right when you say:

The danger, to me, is when people are too much one way.

The key word is balance but I will always let my heart have the last say.

Buddah,

more approachable writing

Thanks mate. It started as a conversation I was having about perceptions. I like the conversational flow of this. It is a style I'd like to try to use more.

Now...how'd I miss this?

I'm always impressed by you, Maso even if I get to the party late.

Party, what party? Damn, did I miss another party? Boo hoo

As always, it is good to see you, mate.
