Take a number and wait until you're called.

For those of you interested, my band played our first show with our new rhythm section on Thursday. We had a great time and it was really cool seeing the twins on stage finally. Candice and Alana have really added to the band in a big way. We've been rehearsing really hard for the last 4 or so months, first teaching them how to play all the material then getting them comfortable enough to play it live. The sky is the limit now we've also found a new replacement vocalist too. Emily has a big voice and is a lovely person, someone we're really pleased to have in the band. She will be debuting with us at our next show, in two weeks time. It will be a big night too, as it is a Saturday night and we're expecting a really big turnout. The band has got a string of shows coming up, which means I'm going to be busy.

My day job has just got very busy too. I have to put together the material for a book of abstracts from research awards for the last 3 years. I'm basically doing all the layout work for it and am looking forward to the challenge. The awards are something I've been organising for the last three years, everything from advertising, to collecting all the abstracts for judging and organising the event itself. It isn't until late in the year and I'm planning on having the book completed by then, so I've got a lot to do.

So I guess what I'm giving you all is reasons why my commenting has been sporadic of late. There are some of you I haven't got to for a while. But you are in my thoughts.

Heya Maso.

I have a best friend from HS named Candace and a friend from HS who has a daughter named Alana.

I'm glad things are going well with your band. You do sound busy.

Heh, I can identify! I've been working more hours than I'd like and there's been stress both on the home front and at work. I'm losing perspective and I'm due for a week off to recharge.

Sounds like you are in the thick of it, but loving it. I did a logo and a booklet about ten years ago while on the organizing committee for an annual IDAA (International Doctors in AA) meeting (over a thousand attendees and their families). The most important part, I found, was gaining committee consensus for content and form (to avoid miscommunication and scapegoating). I learned a lot of good technical stuff along the way too, as I'm sure you will. Best wishes with this. I'm glad things are gelling with the band too. You live such a balanced life!

I completely hear you and understand. I'm glad to hear the band is going great guns too and that one of these days you'll be able to ditch that day job! Take care friend...

Tex,

How cool is that? The girls are really excellent. I love 'em to bits. Having them on stage with us felt so comfortable and natural, like they'd been playing with us for years. I'm glad things are going well too, after putting so much time into writing and rehearsing. As we like to say, we're on our way up.

Don,

Heh, I can identify!

I'm sure you can. For the book, I'm doing volume number 5, so form is not going to be a problem. I will have to collate the content and have it verified by a committee. The biggest pain is going to be formatting all the abstracts. While I have most as softcopies, the formats are all over the place. Still, it is a challenge I am going to enjoy.

I'm glad things are gelling with the band too. You live such a balanced life!

Thanks mate. I haven't fogotten about sending you a disc. I've promised a few folk here I would and have yet to but I'm getting there. I have a bunch of demo material I'd like to add to the songs we've already recording. The quality isn't fantastic but I'm keen to hear what you all think of the material. I hope to get something in the mail to you very soon. As for balance, well sometimes I feel like I'm losing it, but then I remember it is just my vertigo

Joe,

one of these days you'll be able to ditch that day job!

Yes, it might not happen as quick as we'd like but it WILL happen. Don't worry, I've still got you down as official groupie-tester

Donna,

Thanks very much. I'm so pleased to be back on stage, I have to say. I really do feel like it is where I belong.

Peter,

the band is really growing and maturing

Thanks heaps, mate. I feel the same way. We're starting to really work well together, both writing and playing. It is exciting, to say the least.

Sabrina,

Remember us when you're rich and famous

Ah, my friends here will always be on my guest list, no matter how big we get.

Doc,

Can I have your autograph now?

My autograph aint going to be worth the paper it is written on but JC's, well, his is going to be the one to have. Still, if you want mine, I can get it for you

Rose,

I will always have time for you guys, don't worry. Thanks for your continued support. How is your brother going, incidentally?
