Take a number and wait until you're called.

Here are a few shots from Toni and my brief away. We went to Brisbane, the capital of Queensland. For those of you not familiar with Australian geography, Queensland, known as the Sunshine State, is the second largest state in Australia and occupies the top north eastern part of Australia. Brisbane is built on the Brisbane River, which curves around like a great brown snake. I've never been to Brisbane and I have to say, I really liked the place a lot.

As you can see from the shots, we went to an area called Southbank, which is opposite Brisbane City. As a city, it is clean, busy, attractive and friendly. Toni and I actually went back to Southbank a few days later to go to the Gallery of Modern Art, and impressive building in itself. We also went to Dreamworld, one of the big theme parks in the greater Brisbane area. It was Toni's birthday present to me and we both had a ball. I enjoyed the rides although the one I was most looking forward to, the Cyclone roller coaster, was closed for maintenance. It was also a big treat to see the tiger cubs. We got talking to the keeper and he offered to take some shots of them from up close. We were most impressed, both with the cubs and the keeper's friendliness.

I stayed with relatives, some of whom I haven't seen for twenty or more years. We had a great time and enjoyed their company. They're relaxed, easy people to be with and it really helped make the holiday. They also put on a bit of a celebration on Friday for my birthday. I ate far too much and thoroughly enjoyed myself. We also caught up with some friends and indulged ourselves with quite a number of beverages on Saturday night. The local nightclub precinct has a somewhat checkered reputation, probably deserved but making the place no less fun for having a night out.

I hope you all enjoy the slides. I'd just like to say again thanks to everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes and thanks particularly to Serenity for the job she does.

Actualy what I know about Australia would fill this comment box.  IN other words, not a whole lot!

Thanks for the pictures and explanation.  If it is not a marsupial and hops, assume I dont know about it.

Beautiful pics Dyno.

Sounds like a great time.  It's nice to hear about places like this from the natives of a country.  It seems like inside information...heh.

Serenity,

I pleased you enjoyed our holiday pictures. Hopefully one day, you'll get to see this beautiful city for yourself.

Doc,

Well, what you don't know, I can certainly teach you, provided I know, of course. This includes marsupials. Good to see you, mate.

Tova,

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the pictures. If you want any more inside information, just ask. I'm only too happen to pass on what I know.

Wow Maso you were in my neck of the woods.
I love Brisbane.
The Art Gallery has been very recently refurbished along with the Qld Museum and Science centre.
We took Elana last weekend and happened to stumble onto Tartan Day at Southbank.
I'm pleased you found our city to be friendly
