Arrgh... I'm getting old

You can always trust there’ll be weather
But can you trust a weatherman
You can always trust the times will change
But never slow enough for you to understand

You can count on the fact we’ll all die
But you can never know when or where
And while you worry about it life passes by
And mine’s too precious for me to share

You can trust in the dark the last key you try
Will be the one to open up your door
You can trust the kids will wail and cry
If you suggest being older, you might know more

You can count on the fact that winter days
Seem longer and colder the older you get
And as you memory fades and you lose you ways
The umbrella you forgot means you’ll end up wet

You can trust in your ever beating heart
But it will one day slow to a halt
You can bet for sure whenever trouble starts
Your elected officials will say its not their fault

You can always trust there’ll be weather
And the weatherman may one day get it right
But for the time being it would be better
If you left the door locked and stayed in tonight

Leave the door locked and stay in tonight.

Sounds good to me.

I must be getting old too...

But we'll pretend we're fine wine.....as we age, we're better with time!

Don't we just These days, I would far rather entertain in my home than go to a noisy pub or club where conversation is limited to hand gestures and loud grunts. Who needs it?

Roy,

I am hoping I might be able to record a few poems this weekend for that purpose. I have to be honest with you and say I don't think this will be one of 'em, though. I'm not overly happy with it. It is more an exercise in form rather than a good poem. But still, I'm glad you liked it.

Hey, we're all getting old, (thankfully, when I consider the options).

I like your verse, it's friendly and entertaining and wise.

Send me a soundfile; I would love to feature you on virtaulpoetryreading.com. Nothing fancy, just you and a poem!
Thanks, Moskowitz

Buddah,

I am hoping to record a few this weekend. I've been so busy over the last month, I really haven't had time. This coming weekend is looking good and quiet, though, so I will do my best. No promises, though.
