Take a number and wait until you're called.

My wife and I are planning our honeymoon at the moment, although we’ve been married five years. At the time we were married, neither of us were able to afford to have the sort of honeymoon we both wanted and to be honest, the last five years have gone by so fast, we’ve not had much time to think anymore about it.

But we are now. The plan is to travel for about three months, going first to Hawaii, then the States, then to England and Europe, India, Malaysia, and then home to Australia. We are planning on trying to catch up with as many of our friends around the world as possible.

This won’t be happening until 2010 as there is a reunion on Penang Island in Malaysia that I would like to attend. I lived and went to school there for three years in the 70s. In fact, my oldest friend, whom I met while there, is planning on attending to so I know it will be a good event to attend.

I am also planning on trying to meet up with as many of my JU friends as possible. The basic plan is to fly domestic from Hawaii to San Francisco then spend 5 weeks getting across to the East Coast and, specifically, New York. To do this, we’re planning on flying/driving and trying to see as much of the country as we can.

I was thinking about this on the weekend and frustrating myself a little about trying to get to see everyone when it occurred to me I might have a better solution. I don’t know if anyone has tried to do this before, but I’d like to try and arrange a JU get-together. As this is a good way away, I figured I’d test the water now and see what sort of response I get. I had the thought we’d all get ourselves to a specific location where we’d meet up with everybody.

I’m completely open to suggestions about where with the only stipulation that it suit everyone’s budget.

So, my JU friends, are you interested?

What a great idea, a JU meet in 2010? I don't know about anyone else, but that's a great idea!

I also thought of offering a bedroom for you guys to spend some time if you come in our direction as well in sunny Florida! I've not been back to NY yet to visit since moving. I'm actually hoping to visit next year but am game to make it happen in 2010 too!

Good luck on the honeymoon plan!

What a cool idea, Maso. Like FS, I'm also happy to offer you and Toni a place to stay in DC should you find your way here. Sounds like a fabulous trip!

You're always welcome at the Casa de Jones in Utah so you can see those beautiful Rocky Mountains . . .

I would love to meet up. I'm sure I'll be in Texas in 2010. I don't mind traveling for a big JU reunion, but somewhere within driving distance would be best for me.

Sounds like an idea!  Just remember when driving, to drive on the RIGHT side of the road.

I'm a little leary of online reunions, as the ones I have had have been somewhat mixed, but I wouldn't rule it out entirely.

However, either way it goes, dynamaso, if you come anywhere near us, we will definitely be willing to put y'all up for the night.

Serenity,

We're definitely planning on making our way to Florida. Both Toni and I love Art Deco architecture and Miami has some of the best examples of it anywhere in the world. We'd definitely be up for a visit to Orlando as well to meet you and your wonderful family.

Shades,

Toni has already talked about how much she wants to visit DC, particularly all the museums. So it looks as though DC is on the cards as well. I'm already really excited about this trip. The big hassle at the moment is deciding where we can go and where we won't have time to visit. So many choices, so little time...

San Cho,

We're looking forward to catching up with you (and your brother if possible). I guess you'll be back in Utah by 2010, so Utah will be on the cards for a visit, although I'm still not sure how we're going to manage all this in just 5 weeks. But where there's a will, there's a stressed individual trying to work out the best way

Tex,

Well, it looks as though Texas is going to be the major stop-off spot for us. There are more people we'd like to catch up with in Texas than in any other single state in the US. You and your gorgeous family are most certainly on our list..

Doc,

Thanks for the advice about driving. I'm already well aware of it (mainly through playing PS2 driving games ). Details of the reunion will be forthcoming.

Gid,

As I said, we're definitely going to be spending some time in Texas. Of course, if we get near you guys, we'd love to visit. Thanks for the offer of a bed too.

Thanks to you all for your responses. l will keep everyone posted.

Actually, in 2010 I'll be at grad school somewhere else entirely. So I guess we'll have to see what happens . . .

It doesn't matter because we'd definitely like to catch up with you. So where ever you are, expect us on your doorstep

Because you bloody Americans would still forget and still drive on the wrong side of the road
