Take a number and wait until you're called.

Well, its after two in the morning on the first of the first 2008, at least it is here in Australia. The fireworks were fantastic and I had a great night, albeit quiet. I went with one of the boys in the band to a mates place. We sat around his pool, drank a few, played some poker and let off some fireworks of our own. Very tame, but fun none the less. Unfortunately, my darling wife was working an overnight shift and while I'm used to the odd hours she works, I missed her even more tonight.

We've been together nearly six years now, married for a little over five of those years. It is still fresh and beautiful. Sure, there are parts of the day to day that have become routine, but not to the detriment of our relationship. Complaceny is not something we practice. We don't take each other for granted while maintaining a mutual respect for each others individuality. Maybe I'm making it sound like a perfect relationship or worse. But it isn't perfect and we both know it. But we're committed and we're prepared to work at it because, above all, we love each other very much.

I had intentions of writing a nice little, predictable note to all my friends here at JU. But I've done this before. You all know how much I enjoy being here and calling some of you friends. Real friends. But tonight. at approximately 2:44 am, I want to dedicate this to my wife, Toni. I love, I miss and I'll see you soon. Happy New Year, my darling.

Wow, I can't get over the fact that you being on the other side of the world is way ahead of us!! My son gives me one of those "mom it's the other side of the world, remember quip"!!

I think this is a fitting tribute to Toni especially since she wasn't with you! Have a wonderful rest of the New Year Mark, especially when she gets home! ~nudge, nudge~ lol

It is wonderful knowing people like you!

So....how's 2008 going so far? I still have just over 7 hours to go here and plan to spend it at home with family and to go of the wagon for the night with a 6 pack. Funny thing but I thought of you earlier today and how you were probably celebrating already. Anyway....HAPPY NEW YEAR MASO!

Doc,

Thanks for the wishes, mate. Hope you have a good night and a good New Year.

Ad Nauseam,

I will have a look at your post, for sure. Happy New Year to you too.

Serenity,

I think this is a fitting tribute to Toni

Thank you, so do I. There is so much more I wanted to write but it can get a bit boring reading about how wonderful I think she is.

It is wonderful knowing people like you

The same goes for you, Donna. Here is to you and your family. I hope you have a great New Years celebration and an even better 2008.

Whip,

your wife's a lucky lady, maso

I think we're both blessed to be with each other, but we also work hard at maintaining our relationship too. Its not always sunshine and roses, but then, what is? Here's to you and the Emp for a great 2008.

Roy,

2008 is going very well so far, mate. The weather is being completely unpredicatable, we've got cyclones, wild oceans and bushfires creating all sorts of havoc around our fair island. But the roof over my head is still there, I've got another six days off before I go back to work, Toni has just finished her last shift for a few days and we're planning on an excursion to one of my favourite places - the Zoo. The things beyond my control I can't worry about and things in my control are sorted. So, a good start to the new year, by any accord.

HAPPY NEW YEAR MASO!

I wish you and your family all the best for 2008 mate. Enjoy the six pack - you deserve it. I raised a beer to you and my other friends here last night and hope we can all raise one together soon.

Doc,

I will split with you. Honest!

Damn, I knew I missed something. Sorry, mate, but I don't have them. You're going to have to rely on picking them out yourself. At least if you win, you won't have to share.
