Take a number and wait until you're called.

Try as I might, I have been finding it particularly difficult to rise to the latest JUWC challenge. The fact that both Tova and Roy have done such particularly good jobs with theirs has left me bereft of ideas. Every time I try to start something, it evolves into a very poor second to Tova’s wonderful entry.

But the words she chose are absolutely fantastic. Some of them I’d heard of before and had even added to my vocabulary (such as rive, odious and usurp). Others I’d read before and heard people use (willow, kerfuffle, zephyr, nihilistic, godspeed and yesternight). Still others I’d learnt through my love of crosswords (these include fuliginous, scree, virago and xanthippe). The rest of the set were totally new to me and I love to learn new words.

So while I’m going to have to throw the towel in on this particular challenge, I just want to thank Tova for giving me some new words to play with and for provided such a wonderful, albeit difficult challenge. I hope to include at least some of these words in future pieces.

Your writing is auric! Dont let the bumbledom consisting of chimera government abominations get you down! Let out a cachinnation at the doryphore of the epicaricacy of others! Lift off the veil of fuliginous and sail on with your Godspeed! A jejune incondite hobbledehoy you are no more! Dont allow the kerfuffle cause you lethologica during your nihilistic matutinal musings!

it is time to stop worring about the odious pilgarlic who is nothing more than a quidnunc! Rive your lethargy, cast off yoru scree, reach out to the tramontane, usurp them! That virago of a muse under the willow is not your xanthippe nor was she yesternight. Allow your zephyr to take control!

It's all good Maso....though I do feel because you don't have willow trees over there?

Oh man they are wonderful!!

When I was a kid we'd play under them because the branches will bow out and touch the ground...its like an automatic FORT.  And when you get tired of playing fort you can swing on the branchces.....

As an adult I like the branches cut and dried for interior decor.  They twist and turn and have wonderful lines.

Anyway, don't sweat it.  Technically you used a lot of them in this article!

Hey, I have failed on the last 4 or 5 challenges.   I had to force myself to finish the last story. I have been having keybord fright.

You are always writing and writing interesting stuff.

I'm in the same boat as you, mate. Well, not the same boat because you wrote something.

Kelly is right you do write interesting stuff.

That was pretty good, Doc.

Nothing's come to mind for me, yet. I'll keep it in the back of my mind...maybe I'll find inspiration at some point. For now, though...I'll just focus on finals.

They are all in his article now.

I dunno, you manage to sneak quite a few in!   But I agree, we DO NEED something a little easier, hahaha!

Finals?! Come on, Zoo you know the JUWC is more important.

They are all in his article now.

Now I think you should participate more often.

Doc,

Well done   But if anything, I'm feeling even less able to complete the challenge.  Thanks for making it look easy, though.

Tova,

I actually didn't mean to put willows in except to say I know willows well.  Like you, I spent many wonderful summers days chasing cicadas up willow trees.  There is something magical about them isn't there?

Kelly,

There is no such thing as failure with JUWC.  It isn't a competition and you're not graded.  But I appreciate the thought anyway, Kelly.   I know exactly what you mean by 'keyboard fright' too.  Thanks for your continued support.

Chris,

I'm in the same boat as you, mate. Well, not the same boat because you wrote something. Kelly is right you do write interesting stuff.

Thanks to you too, mate.  I was hoping you might do something as your writing is always fun and often funny too.

Oh, yes, you have a good excuse though...

Good luck with them, mate.  I'm sure you'll do well.

I dunno, you manage to sneak quite a few in!

Yes, but I'm not happy with myself about it.  My first thought was that it was almost sounding like your post.  But as I said, I'm pleased to have learnt some new words.

But I agree, we DO NEED something a little easier, hahaha!

Easier is nice but I do like a good challenge.  Of course, this doesn't mean I'm jumping out of a plane, okay?

Doc,

They are all in his article now.

So they are...  Thanks for that

Hey Mark, somehow you have cleverly put all the words into this blog!  So, you might not have failed after all!LOL!

Doc, clever!

You have a gift of writing. Mine is just BS.

Donna,

Hey Mark, somehow you have cleverly put all the words into this blog! So, you might not have failed after all!LOL

Yes, I tried and failed miserably.  But as the saying goes, its better to try and fail than not try at all.

Doc,

You have a gift of writing.  Mine is just BS

I think fiction writing is the ability to take BS and make it legible so I guess you're on the 'write' path
