Take a number and wait until you're called.
For Roy ;)

This one is dedicated and inspired by my friend Roy Levosh.  You put the idea in my head about being in the chair, under the gun, getting a tattoo.  But in writing this, I realised it is also a great little analogy for what we do in the name of getting and staying fit.  Hope you enjoy it.

Today it hurt,

As it will tomorrow.

Pain is our bodies way

Of saying,

“Enough is enough!

Time to take it easy.”

But sometimes pain

Can be wonderful...

Cathartic.

Sexual...

Artistic,

Necessary.

In which case

The body says,

“Give me more!

I like this.”

So I will heal,

And do it all again

Because I listen

To what my body says.

Pain, I read somewhere, is weakness leaving the body. And some days (again I read some where) you build fitness, other days you build character.

Nice things to remember when the pain comes.

I never thought about it quite like that. Brilliant post my far away friend!

Whip,

Endorphins, babee, gimme more.

Ah, yes, I knew you'd understand completely.

Roy,

I guess this is where the 'whatever doesn't kill, makes you stronger' saying has real meaning.  And dammit, if character is what I'm building, then I must be a real character by now

I never though about it quite like that

Under the needle, it is really about disconnecting from the pain and taking yourself somewhere more...  I don't know how else to describe it.  It helps me to keep in mind I am a living canvas for an artist I greatly admire.

Oh HECKS yes.

I loved this, Maso. I'm still not going under the needle, but it makes me want to just a little bit more.

Chris,

Oh, very much so.  Just ask anyone with multiple tattoos (or a distance runner, for that matter).

it makes me want to just a little bit more

If it invokes this kind of feeling in you, it pleases me greatly.
