Take a number and wait until you're called.

I want to give you something
You’ve never been given before
Something deserved
To make you think
Before you speak in future
And bash someone else senseless
With your callous, cavalier invective

I want to give you something
A present or a gift, if you fancy
Something thoughtful
To remind you to be more
Careful in the future
So you won’t tear emotional strips
Off someone who doesn’t deserve it

I have a number of choices
And this is my dilemma
Whether I should give you
A swift kick in the bum
Or a smack on the nose
You can’t say you haven’t earned it
There are too many who think you have

I know I have.

Sorry.

I know I have.

Sorry.

And don't you forget it, young man

Often I've thought that for some people the best thing could happen to them is a good old fashioned righteous ass kickin'. But then...that "best thing" might cut both ways too.

Roy,

But then...that "best thing" might cut both ways too.

I know what you mean.  Sometimes it doesn't matter how right I might be, I could still come across as an obnoxious ass to someone else.  I hope I don't but there is no telling, is there?

Hmmmmm.....sometimes some people need it for all the right reasons!  Hey, if you emailed me i didn't get the chance to check yet, it's been a busy weekend!

Donna,

I agree. Sometimes even the threat is enough for some to wake up to themselves. Unfortunately, the person this is basically about is also the kind of person who thinks poetry and blogging is a completely waste of time.

I did reply to your email, incidentally, but it was very short as I was on my way out.

There are so many this could be about ... including me.

A swift kick in the bum
Or a smack on the nose

If it's not me then by all means beat them down.

Chris,

It is definitely not about you, mate.  You've never been anything other than funny and charming and these are certainly not qualities deserving any 'contact counselling' (as we used to call it in the Services).

I agree with Roy, most folks need just need a good asskicking every now and then, keeps them humble and palatable.

Good poem, my mate,

Moskowitz

Buddah, thanks very much, mate. Good to see you too.
