Take a number and wait until you're called.

Wow, it has been a while since I put anything up here.  I've promised a few of you I would have something up about my recent holiday but something came along and knocked me off my feet, literally.

I have been so sick with a viral infection of some sort, I've hardly had the energy to talk, let alone write or create anything.  Every part of me ached, even my toes.  I had the shivers and shakes and could not get comfortable enough for a decent nights sleep.  To make matters worse, I wasn't able to exercise, my appetite was really poor and I lost a couple of the kilos I worked so hard to gain recently.  I know this probably sounds ridiculous to those of you who have problems losing weight.  I, however, have a very quick metabolism and have always been a bit too thin.  As hard as it is to believe, some people actually do have this problem.  But my appetite is coming back and I'm definitely starting to feel better.

To make things even worse, we have been having some problems with our internet connection at home.  Turns out the modem we replaced about 12 months ago went belly-up and we have to get another.  Our ISP wanted to charge us an exorbitant amount for a replacement modem but I've been able to find exactly the same one on Ebay for about a tenth of the price they were asking, bloody rip-off merchants.  I am just waiting for the auction to finish and for the modem to be delivered then we'll be back online.

This relative isolation gave me pause for some evaluation with respect to a couple of things in my life.  I am toying with the idea of doing a writing course mainly to hone some of my skills and to help out with my inability to edit my writing (although it is wonderful that I have a few friends here who have been such a great help in this area).  Self-editing can be difficult but I know my stories would be a lot better once I learn how to be ruthless.

On my other creative front, I'm about to kick start some work with a few musical projects, kind of the final gasp before I call it a day.  I'm writing a couple of backing tracks at the moment for a friend who, while a more traditional musician, someone who leans towards alt-country more than anything else, wants some backing tracks that sound new and modern.  This has turned out to be a lot more fun than I anticipated.

I've also got a bit of work to finish up with JC Ronikal as well.  Jarrod, the MC, has been working with a few different crews and has been doing quite well for himself of late.  He has established a contact with Sony Asia and would like to get a few of our newer songs recorded so he can capitalise on this contact.

On top of all this, I'm moving into the really busy part of the year at work, so I don't expect I'll be around as much as usual.  But I will pop by and read all my regulars when I can.

Hope everyone is well and happy.

Hey, good to hear from ya.  Thought something must've come up for you to disappear on us all of a sudden.

Glad you're feeling better, mate.

Thanks Zoo.  Yeah, it came out of nowhere, stomped my ass and took off.  But I'm slowly getting back on my feet.

I hate when that happens..no warning and then BAM sick as a dog.

Oh...and:

Okay, I know I'm not the only one who thought this when reading the title.

What kind of Internet Service do you have?

Sorry about the bug.  Hopefully taht is your only one this year, which means you have at least 11 months of smooth sailing!

Zoo, dammit, I can't see video sharing sites at work.  I'm sure you posted something funny, though.  Will have to wait until my access at home is sorted then I'll be able to have a look.

Doc, we are on a plan with a local telcom company.  I've found a modem for a heck of a lot cheaper online and am waiting to see if I win the auction.  As for the bug, well thanks.  My wife had a flu shot this year and missed out on all the fun of this virus, so I'm thinking I'm going to have a shot next year.  I did not like being sick one little bit.

Hope everyone is well and happy.

And I hope you are too now! (sorry I'm late in commenting! I've been held up late at work two nights in a row now!)

Sorry to hear you were feeling bad Maso...did you pick it up on holiday ya think?

Take care of yourself, get strong again, and looking forward to reading more when you have time.

Zoo,

Okay...  I didn't even think this when I wrote the title but you know, I kind of wish I had.  Good song...

Roy,

Thanks mate.  I am definitely on the mend now.  And you're not so late.  I only posted this yesterday.

Tova,

I spent some time with my family in Canberra and a lot of them ended up sick as well.  So I'm going to answer 'yes, probably' to your question, although I know I didn't get this in the tropics.  Thanks very much for your kind words.  As I said to Roy, I'm feeling a lot better now and hopefully will be back to my usual self soon.
